The 6th SJTU-Yale Global Public Health Policy Forum Successfully Held

The 6th Shanghai Jiao Tong University-Yale University Global Public Health Policy Forum was held in Shanghai on December 10-11, 2023. This prestigious forum was co-hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Yale University, with the joint organization of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University-Yale University Health Policy Research Center, the School of International and Public Affairs at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the Yale School of Public Health. The event received additional support from the Yale Center Beijing and the Yale-China Association for Healthcare.
The forum saw the participation of nearly two hundred attendees, including faculty and students from over ten universities such as Cornell University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, NYU Shanghai, and Tongji University. Administrators from top-tier hospitals across the country and leaders in the healthcare administration sector were also in attendance.
Five distinguished speakers delivered the keynote sessions. Chen Ningshan spoke on "Implementing the 14th Five-Year Plan for Health and Healthcare Standardization to Promote High-Quality Development in Healthcare." Paul Cleary from Yale University presented on "Hospital Development Based on Patient Feedback." Zhao Hongyu discussed the "Impact of Biological Databases on Healthcare Systems." Zhao Min shared insights on "The Construction and Reflection of National Mental Health Medical Centers." Finally, Yang Qingcheng addressed "The Dilemmas and Future Trends in Orthopedic Consumables Management."
Forum also organized three panel discussions.. The first, moderated by Zhao Dahai, featured Zhao Dandan, Yin Shankai, Leng Xiliang, Yu Guangjun, Zhang Zhiwei, and Chen Xi.They engaged in a lively discussion on the high-quality development of public hospitals. The second panel, led by Zhao Hongyu, brought together Xiao Ping, Jin Chunlin, Shen Yinzong, Brian Hall, and Sun Mei to delve into enhancing the public health system. The third panel, also chaired by Zhao Dahai, included Zheng Ning, Zhao Hongyu, Leng Xiliang, Jin Chunlin, Zhang Zhiwei, and Wang Tao, focusing on innovations and evaluation mechanisms in national medical center construction. These sessions facilitated interactive exchanges with the audience.
The forum concluded on December 11 with a graduate student sub-forum centered on the high-quality development of healthcare systems. Promising young scholars from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, and other leading institutions presented their research, adding a dynamic and forward-looking perspective to the discussions.
This annual forum continues to serve as a vital platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange in the global public health sector, further strengthening the partnership between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Yale University in advancing public health education and research.
