“I got this fantastic opportunity on SIPA platform to talk about my sentiments after winning the 2016 Excellent Student Award. I am very delighted and honoured to win this prestigious award. I worked really hard for this distinction award and I am glad that I made it to the top 30 international students of SJTU. I did not make the journey here alone. Numerous people have supported me along the way.  I would like to thank the faculty for their support and guidance and our program coordinator, who is a godsend to work with and has such a dynamic and captivating personality. I would like to thank my family and friends for their unending support. I am also blessed with an amazing and supportive friend who has been a true source of motivation for me throughout the past one year and she has always encouraged me to step forward and take challenges. In conclusion, I want to again say how grateful I am to receive this award, especially knowing that I study with students who are equally deserving. ” – Saba

“We were surprised we were the only ones from our school to get the awards. For me it’s not only an honour, it is also a reward for all the hard work of the past year and an incentive to keep doing my best this year. The Committee looked both at our academic performance and at our activities inside and outside the campus, specially volunteering. I personally volunteer often in NGOs & social enterprises, as well as take part in events to learn more about a future sustainable China. It’s not just about coming here to work and study, we all have time and energy to give, help and make the world a better place. I want to encourage students to make the most of their stay in this university and this city full of opportunities, without forgetting that there are always people out there who do not have the same chances that we do.” - Dési

On 23rd December there will be a Christmas event and the Excellent Students will be given their awards and certificates then.
