One Belt, One Road’ Training Program Successfully Held by SIPA

On 10th October, Shanghai Jiaotong University launched the “China’s Public Policy Analysis: Diplomacy, Economy and City Governance – ‘One Belt, One Road’ Executive Training Program” in Xuhui campus.
Professor Zhong Yang, Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs, gave an opening speech to wish that the program runs successfully and students take advantage of this learning opportunity. Meanwhile, Professor Zhong Yang stressed that ‘One Belt, One Road’ is not strictly an economic policy, but rather an all-round comprehensive concept which abides by the principle of ‘discussing, building and sharing with one another’. It focuses on enhancing policy communication while facilitating links, openness to trade and circulation of funds. It is a common goal for the people, since it will greatly influence the development of countries involved.
Associate Dean Professor Peng Bo has given a lecture on diplomacy, economics and city governance to help students understand the dynamics and obstacles of Chinese policy framework.
Our school has invited many participants from various backgrounds to attend our program, including the Consul General of Ecuador in Shanghai, the Deputy Director of the Brazilian Office of Commerce in Taipei, the Director of the Thai National Economic Development Committee, the Administrative Assistant of the Philippines Foreign Affairs Senator, as well as officials from the Italian, South Korean and Ethiopian Consulates in Shanghai, among others.
The ‘One Belt, One Road’ Training Program has attracted extensive attention from various sectors of society and it has received very generous financial support from the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. The program will run from 10th to 21st October, covering the current development of China from different research perspectives and giving participants a deep insight into Chinese policy, particularly those areas concerning the ‘One Belt, One Road’ policy.
