Thailand Kasetsart University Visits SIPA

On May 23rd,, a delegation of about 65 faculty and students from Thailand Kasetsart University visited our school. They were hosted by Assistant Dean Jean- Marc Blanchard, Dr. Zuo Yana (a faculty member in the International Relations Department), Chinese Politics and Economics (CPE) MA program manager Peng Jingjing, and 4 CPE students. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the delegation with Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU), our school, and the CPE program as well as various aspects of China’s foreign and domestic policies.

Assistant Dean Blanchard gave opening remarks on behalf of SIPA, introducing SJTU and SIPA. Then, Ms. Peng spoke about the CPE program and welcomed more Thai students to apply to the program in the future. Afterwards, the attending CPE students provided various observations about the CPE program. William Price (US) ,offered warm remarks about the CPE program and its unique advantages. Dymtro Nikandrov and Nataliia Zhurba, both from the Ukraine, and Adam Matteson (US) also shared their experiences in and thoughts about the CPE program.

Dr. Zuo gave a short, but rich briefing on “China’ Foreign Policy Making,” ,covering factors that affect China’s foreign policy such as the five principles of peaceful coexistence, geography, and history.

After the formal meeting concluded, SIPA and Thailand Kasetsart University students took a group photo in front of the Centennial Memorial. Subsequently, Shen Wenwei, a SIPA graduate student, led the delegation on a campus tour.
