Secretary General of Shangha Gave A Keynote Speech for China Institute for Urban Governance

On December 10th, Chen Jing, Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal Government, Director of the General Office of the Municipal Government, and Director of the Academic Committee of China Institute for Urban Governance, delivered a keynote speech for the teachers and students of the institute. Attending the keynote speech were Jiang Sixian, CPC Committee Secretary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Dean of China Institute for Urban Governance; Wu Jiannan, Executive Vice Director of China Institute for Urban Governance and Head of Division of Liberal Arts and Social Science of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Jiang Wenning, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of International and Public Affairs in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Secretary of the Party Branch of China Institute for Urban Governance; Chen Gaohong, Deputy Dean of China Institute for Urban Governance of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Editor-in-Chief of Jue Ce Can Kao; Li Zhenquan, Vice Party Secretary of School of International and Public Affairs and China Institute for Urban Governance of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Zhang Lufa, Vice Dean of School of International and Public Affairs and China Institute for Urban Governance of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, K. Wah professors, responsible professors, duel-researchers and and teachers and students of the school. The conference was presided by Jiang Sixian.Jiang Sixian extended a warm welcome to Chen Jing's visit, briefly introduced Chen Jing's resume, and thanked Secretary General Chen for explaining the general secretary Xi's understanding of Shanghai's development, especially the development requirements related to urban governance, for sharing the spirit and tasks of the Shanghai Municipal Government.
Chen Jing interpreted the current situation of Shanghai's urban governance, and explained how the Shanghai Municipal Government faced the requirements of a comprehensive external environment and national policies, and actively and efficiently implemented key work tasks through a wealth of examples, making the participating scholars can better understand the government's thinking mode and decision-making mode.
In the end, Chen Jing made three suggestions on how the Institute can better embed and better serve Shanghai's urban governance practices: first, doing both basic and in-depth research on the motivation and mechanism of urban operation; second, carrying out strategic research, conducting in-depth research on urban development strategies, especially in the fields of big data and informatization; third, carrying out comparative research from a wider perspective, making a comparative study of urban governance from a historical and world perspective.
After the keynote speech, on behalf of the Institute, Wu Jiannan thanked Secretary-General Chen Jing for his thorough and vivid share, meanwhile, said that the Institute will strengthen the construction and actively carry out research work based on the three basic suggestions made by Secretary-General Chen Jing.
