THE SCHOOL OF INTERNATIONAL AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS CONVENED AN ONLINE MEETING WITH INSTITUTE FOR HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT STUDIES OF ERASMUS UNIVERSITY ROTTERDAM

The School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) on Monday, 18 May 2020, convened an online meeting with Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The meeting was chaired by associate dean of SIPA, Professor FAN Bo. Jan Fransen, associate dean of IHS, Daniela Peralta, researcher at IHS, Naomi Sonneveld, member of the resilience team and Covid-19 crisis team of Rotterdam city council, Assoc. Prof. Dahai Zhao, Dr. Xin Liang, Dr. Chuanshen Qin, Dr. Feng Yu, Jingjing Peng and Sai Li from Office of International Affairs SIPA, joined the meeting.

Firstly Professor Fan Bo and Professor Jan Fransen both gave the opening remarks. Then the participants had academic communication, followed by a Q&A discussion. At the meeting, a variety of research agenda items and presentations about China’s experiences in response to COVID-19 were presented, by each participating SIPA professor, questions and answers, followed by discussion and climaxing with a suggestion from Professor Xin Liang of SIPA in response to one of the questions asked by Professor Jan Fransen of Rotterdam University leading to a proposed research question as an action point for collaborative research between the two Universities. At last, Professor Jan Fransen gave a short thank you speech, to thank SIPA for taking the time to organize the meeting and the preparation, thank Professors from SIPA shared their knowledge and insight about the COVID -19 and China’s effort to keep the spread at the low level.
