This course is designed to guide international students in reading the classic Confucian texts in the Analects and establish a relationship between Confucian thought and practical issues in Chinese society and politics. Learning traditional Chinese culture is an integrated part of the knowledge structure of international students studying in China. Confucianism is the core of Chinese culture. Even though China has undergone rapid modernization, Confucian values penetrate all levels of social life and provide a model of civic behavior. Confucianism influences Chinese people’s interpersonal relationships, social ethics, and political attitudes. This course provides an important perspective for international students to understand the Chinese mentality and deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, society, and politics.
