This is an introductory course that surveys key issues in the government and politics of contemporary China. Although the emphasis is on learning Chinese perspectives to Chinese problems, all of these issues will be examined in historical and comparative perspective. Graduate students are expected to pursue the subject in greater depth through reading and individual research.
