POL6306 Media and Government Public Relation in China

This is an optional postgraduate course focusing on media and government public relations in China. The course will be advanced from two parts. Part one intends to introduce theories and principles of public relations and political communication. It examines media and its communication effect. Students will be expected to develop an analytical appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of various media theories and to arrive at some thoughtful conclusions regarding their own theoretical preferences. Part two will focus on the development of government public relations in China. Some classic cases of GPR in China will be analyzed, and the process of in-depth case study will be presented as methodology training.
