President Meric Gertler of University of Toronto visited SIPA

On the morning of November 26, President Meric Gertler, Vice-President David Palmer, Associate Vice-President Christopher Yip, Associate Professor of Geography and Planning Matti Siemiatycki, and Executive Director of International Professor Gwen Burrows, and business development officer George Dai Huaren visited School of International and Public Affairs, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Dr. Jiang Wenning, Party Secretary of SIPA, Professor Fan Bo, Vice Dean of SIPA, Professor Chen Jie, Professor Wang Lin and Ms. Xie Boming from the China Institute for Urban Governance, and Mrs. Peng Jingjing, Deputy Director of International Affairs Office of SIPA, as well as colleagues from International Affairs Division attended the meeting with President Meric Gertler on Minhang Campus. 

First of all, Secretary Jiang Wenning warmly welcomed President Meric Gertler and his delegation of the University of Toronto, and reviewed the exchanges and cooperation between China Institute for Urban Governance and the University of Toronto in the past. Ms. Xie Boming and Mrs. Peng Jingjing briefly introduced the internationalization strategy of SIPA and the Institute, hoping to establish a double Bachelor’s degree with the University of Toronto as well as deeper cooperation in other aspects between the two sides. President Meric Gertler of the University of Toronto thanked SIPA for its hospital reception. He introduced in detail the latest development of the U of T in the field of urban governance and its international programs. He hoped that the two sides could broaden the scope of collaboration, and actively promote faculty and student exchanges, so as to enhance the level of cooperation between the two sides.
