My name is Desiree Nieto. I spent most of my life in Spain and got my BA in Translation and Interpreting before China became my second home. I worked here for a few years in order to save enough to further my studies, and then I discovered the CPE program at Jiaotong. I could not be prouder of being part of this prestigious university, and what I am learning is incredibly valuable both for my future career and for my thirst for knowledge. Thanks to this university, I have been able to attend and participate in international events and conferences with consuls, ambassadors and UN members from a wide range of countries. Our office encourages all students to get internships and gain experience in Shanghai, so I have been involved in social enterprises and NGOs since my first year. Since my main areas of concern are education and environmental policies for development, I am now doing my research on renewable energy and policy while I work as program assistant in SIPA.
